Job Summary

The purpose of this classification is to perform specialized aircraft maintenance work within the Collier County Helicopter Operations Division.

Essential Functions

Performs all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on time and in accordance with FAA and manufacturer's specifications consistent with Collier County Helicopter Operations policies and procedures. Installs, removes, and reinstalls aircraft parts and avionics in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and in compliance with FAA requirements. Ensures the optimal operational status and compatibility of the installed avionic equipment. Maintains accurate and up to date aircraft maintenance logbooks in accordance with FAA requirements and County policies and procedures. Maintains fuel system in accordance with FAA Part 139 regulations and Naples Airport Authority. Completes training by approved Naples Airport Authority vendor(s). Conducts daily, semi-annual and annual inspections on the fuel system as prescribed by Naples Airport Authority. Completes training on spill prevention and fire fighting. Properly maintains records. Maintains the environmental integrity of the helicopter operations premises in order to promote a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with OSHA regulations and County policies. Completes all assignments to specifications as directed, within the specific time frame and budget and in accordance with County policies and procedures. Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, daily activity logs, inspection forms, purchase requisitions, work orders, maintenance records, charts, diagrams, graphs, time cards, leave requests, or other documents. Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, lists, schedules, work orders, delivery receipts, invoices, laboratory reports, technical studies, service/maintenance schedules, maintenance records, operational manuals, material safety data sheets, diagrams, laws, policies, procedures, regulations, standards, directories, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. Operates a personal computer as necessary to complete essential functions. Communicates with supervisor, other divisions, employees, contractors, vendors/suppliers, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Maintains a current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, methods, and procedures; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma with a valid FAA A&P; an Inspection Authorization license is preferred. Must not have incurred any FAA suspensions/revocations. Requires 7 years of maintenance experience with a minimum of 5 years experience maintaining Eurocopter EC135 helicopters with Turbomeca engines in a Part 135 and/or Part 145 environment. 5 years EMS experience. Knowledge of tools, equipment and procedures used in maintenance and repair of aircraft equipment. Knowledge of FAA regulations and requirements. Knowledge of testing procedures, service techniques, methods of troubleshooting, corrosion control, inspection requirements and retirement times. Knowledge of current FAA civilian maintenance standards, as outlined in FAR Part-91 and Part-135, Form 337s, STCs MEL and Avionics. Post – offer drug screening in accordance with FAA FAR Part 135 regulations is required. Ability to operate tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair of aircraft. Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805. Fingerprinting required.
