Bell 205A-1++ Seasonal Firefighting Helicopter Pilot

Kachina Aviation is accepting applications for seasonal Bell 205/UH-1 qualified firefighting pilots for the 2021 fire season. We currently have contracts based in Colorado and Alaska with state and federal agencies with the potential for operations anywhere in the lower 48 states and Alaska. Our pilot positions involve aerial fire suppression, helitack operations, external load on longlines and belly hook, mountain operations, aerial ignition, search and rescue and more.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 50 hours PIC in Bell 205/Single Engine UH-1 OR 25 hours PIC w/factory training
  
• 1500 hours PIC in helicopters
• 200 hours helicopter PIC in designated mountain areas
• 100 hours in ≤12,500 weight category
• 100 hours PIC in helicopters in previous 12 months (at time of carding)
• 100 hours PIC turbine helicopters
• 10 hours PIC vertical reference longline experience
• Commercial Helicopter or ATP
• 2nd or 1st class medical
• Must be able to legally work and remain in the United States for an extended time
  

Qualified applicants must have been previously carded or qualified to be carded by the US Forest Service/OAS for:

• Mountain flying,
• external load (sling), long-line (vertical reference),
• fire suppression (helitack),
• retardant/water dropping.

Experience Preferred:

• 3000+ hours PIC time in helicopters,
• 2000+ hours PIC time in turbine helicopters,
• 750+ hours PIC mountain ops (at altitudes above 5000 feet msl)
• 700 hours PIC long-line vertical reference operations,
• 100 hours PIC time at night in helicopters,
• 500 hours PIC in Bell medium helicopters
• Experience working with helitack firefighting crews
