Job Description
Job Summary

Manage Procurement team to execute business requests for purchases and/or repairs. Responsible for ensuring Air Methods’ compliance with all existing regulatory and company policies and procedures. Collaborates to drive decisions related to supplier selection, sourcing of goods and services and contract negotiations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage Procurement Department and team of Buyers to fulfill demand for purchase and repair orders from the field, corporate, planning, engineering, and repair operations in accordance to company policy
  • Manage tactical sourcing activities for assigned categories
  • Manage the repairs process, company repairable assets and repair suppliers to best support the AMC fleet and business needs. Coordinate and continuously improve repairable assets planning, process, and Turn-around-Times (TaTs) with the AMC planning and operations teams
  • Mentor and coach teammates to ensure growth and development plans are met
  • Monitor supplier performance and actively contribute to periodic supplier reviews to improve their delivery against AMC’s requirements
  • Strategically plan, develop, and implement initiatives and contracts with suppliers for cost, quality, and lead time improvement for parts, services, and supplies in coordination with Category Managers
  • Drive use of procurement best practices and standardization of procurement processes while minimizing supply risk and optimizing inventory levels
  • Provide procurement subject matter expertise to the associated business/function group and sourcing specialists or seek out expertise from business/function
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Purchasing department. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Science or Supply Chain Management from four-year college or university and seven or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eight (8) Years of Strategic Sourcing/Procurement experience, Performance Measurement, Contract Negotiation, Project Management, Category Management, Business Analysis, Change Management experience

  • 3-5 years of industry/category specific experience in one or more of the following categories: Aircraft Parts & Services, Fuel, Medical Supplies, MRO, IT, Corporate and Professional Services, Transportation and Logistics, Real Estate, Facilities

  • Knowledge of FAA and FAR regulations is preferred for Aircraft Parts & Services category


  • Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing and procurement practices, principles, and best practices

  • Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier and internal customer relationships

  • Negotiation/contract management experience

  • Knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis

  • Strong interpersonal and management capabilities to coach and develop Buyers

  • Must have strong organizational skills

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and report summation, and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to apply change management and consulting skills/knowledge and expertise

  • Team-building, high degree of business acumen, and interpersonal skills

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Proficient in eProcurement tools (e.g., Coupa)

  • Ramco experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Procurement and/or Supply Chain related certifications preferred
