Helicopter Certified Flight Instructor

Summit Aviation is seeking a dynamic, highly professional and energetic individual to join the team as a Helicopter Flight Instructor. The ideal teammate will possess excellent communication skills as well as the demonstrated ability to coach students and improve curriculum.


About the job

Helicopter Certified Flight Instructors provide flight and ground training for students under the guidance of the Chief Instructor. Our program allows instructors to work closely with their students and see them through the completion of the helicopter pilot program. Summit Aviation offers potential for opportunities for specialty training and we offer our full support in advancing the aviation career of our CFIs.


What you will do

Execute flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulation and in accordance with the Summit Aviation Helicopter syllabus.

·       Ensure compliance with all Summit Aviation Safety Practices and Procedures.

·       Maintain and motivate student progress through the course(s), ensure course standards and training requirements are met.

·       Ensure all required records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.

·       Communicate student training difficulties or delays to Chief Pilot in a timely manner.

·       Determine aircraft airworthiness.

·       Attend all staff meetings and training events.

·       Execute safe and accurate teaching practices at all times.

·       Other duties as assigned.

·       Act as ambassador for Summit Aviation, Thaden Field and related entities.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Licenses Required For The Role

  • Must hold and maintain a valid FAA Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate
  • Must hold and maintain a valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating
  • Successful completion of Proficiency Flight Check

·       Ability to plan and execute ground and flight lessons.

·       Must be willing to work two weekends per month

·       Submit to and pass required drug testing



Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Preferred FAA Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating
  • Bachelor Degree or post graduate studies preferred but not necessary
  • Customer Service background
