Job Description
Come share your passion for Aircraft, Avionics, or Aircraft Turbine Engine Maintenance with the next generation of learners at BCIT!
BCIT’s Aviation Programs at the School of Transportation requires temporary Faculty members (up to 100% FTE) at our Aerospace Technology Campus in Richmond to teach in the Transport Canada approved curriculum for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category ‘M’ (Maintenance), Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category ‘E’ (Electronics), and Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician programs.
Please note: Appointments will be of varying durations, providing temporary coverage for both pre-scheduled and unplanned absences for full-time, permanent faculty.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaching, evaluation, and preparation for both online remote delivery and in-person delivery of theory, and in-person delivery of shop activities.
  • Administrative responsibilities, assignments, and student evaluation.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver services.
  • Working collaboratively with other instructors, Department Heads, and Associate Dean.
  • Other duties directly related to the support and delivery of the programs. 
Salary Range: $78,133 - $115,805 per annum.
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. 
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical skills necessary to instruct all aspects Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer basic curriculum Engineer basic curriculum.
  • Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license, M or E, with previous Airworthiness Certification Authority (ACA) granted by an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) an asset.
  • Gas Turbine maintenance knowledge and maintenance experience an asset.
  • Minimum of five years of recent industry experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Demonstrated comprehension knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS) and how they pertain to the personnel licensing system and aircraft maintenance in Canada.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with well-rounded industry experience.
  • Previous supervisory, Quality Assurance, or post-secondary teaching experience an asset.
  • Effective command of the English language – both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Current computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial manner within a team and to contribute to a continuous product improvement environment.
  • Completion of an instructional techniques course or the Provincial Instructor Diploma an asset.
