Job summary
Mercy Flight Central, Inc. (MFC) is seeking an A&P Helicopter Technician in Canandaigua, NY for our Part 135 Helicopter Air Ambulance Operation. Summary of essential job functions

You will need to be willing and able to read, interpret and follow the specific guidelines and instructions required by MFC and by aircraft and component manufacturers, the FAA and other regulatory agencies to properly inspect, repair and maintain our fleet of HAAO aircraft operated by MFC.

Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities:

These will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform or assist in general checks such as pre- and post-flight inspections
  • Tow or manually push/pull aircraft and GSE with appropriate support equipment
  • Properly perform and document assigned maintenance and inspection tasks as required by the Director of Maintenance (DOM) and in accordance with appropriate instructions and applicable FAA regulations
  • Remove, replace, rig and adjust components and assemblies with minimal assistance
  • Assist in monitoring and coordinating maintenance and inspection activities with the DOM
  • Able to accurately work with basic mathematical concepts and be able to use conversion tables
  • Ability to read and have a basic understanding of interpreting system drawings, schematics, electronic diagrams and other similar technical materials
  • Help maintain shop tooling and GSE in appropriate serviceable and calibrated condition
  • Required to work occasional overtime and on an on-call rotating roster to respond promptly to aircraft maintenance needs while on call; requires travel between facilities or to alternate aircraft locations
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, shoulders and back are expected
  • Comfortable using ladders, stands, and basic GSE equipment
  • Requires sufficient vision (corrected) and the ability to effectively and safely perform the essential functions of the position; includes seeing sufficiently up close or at a distance, the ability to see colors and use of peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Position operates in an area where employees could be potentially exposed to hazardous materials and conditions; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required by company and industry standards
  • Must possess and maintain inventory of basic hand tools
  • Must be a current and valid Airframe & Powerplant Certificate holder
  • Must possess a valid NY state driver’s license with clear recent driving record

Preferred Other Qualifications:
  • Basic computer skills to include MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Prefer three years’ experience working with turbine powered rotor and/or fixed wing aircraft
  • Prefer Part 135 field maintenance experience
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work well with others to plan, troubleshoot and problem solve
