discover THE

Vertical world

Discover the vertical world and the wonders of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills with a private helicopter tour.

Safety is our number one priority, our business was founded on it.

Established in 2014, Black Hills Helicopters was launched to improve Helicopter Safety in the Black Hills.

  • We operate the most modern fleet in the area with 3 brand new helicopters and all our helicopters are equipped with digital traffic monitoring ADSB-In/Out for your safety.

  • Our heliport (Keystone Heliport, SD18) is the only FAA and SDDOT approved heliport in the area; and is occasionally utilized by both the National Guard and Life Flight helicopters.

  • Our pilots have on average over 1500 hours of aeronautical experience each and extensive training in the make and model they will be flying.

  • Helicopter maintenance is lead by one of the best technicians in the United States and we utilize an outside service center semiannually to double check our program. Our modern aircraft all have EMUs (electronic monitoring systems) to ensure they are operating as prescribed.

  • Most importantly, our weather decisions are based solely on your safety and comfort.

Black Hills Helicopters, Inc. offers helicopter tours of the unique geological outcropping that is the Black Hills of South Dakota. This geological anomaly made for the perfect location to create some of the world’s largest rock sculptures: Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse.

Take a few minutes to see a different perspective and experience the unforgettable sensation of helicopter flight and the vertical world!!

We are the only veteran owned and operated helicopter company in the area.

OUR POLICIES

SCHEDULING and PRICING

Black Hills Helicopters reserves the right to upgrade, alter or terminate any or all of our tours due to security, weather, acts of God, or for any other reason, we deem necessary. Flights canceled by the operator will qualify for a full refund. Prices and tour schedules are subject to change without notice.

Please be advised that unforeseen circumstances may interfere with on-time departures. Please be present at the departure location at least 20 minutes before flight times for check-in and safety briefing.

CANCELLATIONS and NO SHOWS

If you are not able to make your reservation, please let us know at your earliest convenience, in order to make sure that we can do our best to reschedule you in a new time slot that will fit within your itinerary. Missed reservations or late arrivals with no prior notification to the operator, will result in the cancellation of the customer's reservation, the loss of its scheduled time slot and will not qualify for a refund.

48-hour notice is required to change or cancel a Helicopter Tour reservation. No-shows will be assessed a 100% cancellation fee. That means if you need to change or cancel your tour reservation, please provide us with 48 hours notice prior to your scheduled tour time and we will be happy to accommodate you. If you are running late or the time slot no longer works and you are within 48 hours of your flight, contact us as soon as possible so we can try to accommodate you, depending on circumstances and availability. Passengers failing to board their flight with no notice will be considered a no-show. No refund will be made for any unused portion once any segment is used.

FLYING WITH CHILDREN
A child under 24 months of age is welcome as a lap child with an adult at no additional charge. Children 24 months and older require an individual full-fare seat.

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The Robinson Helicopter Company certified its aircraft with the FAA at a maximum occupant weight of 300lbs. Therefore, we will not be able to accommodate passengers weighing more than 300lbs on the Robinson Helicopters. Our Bell 206 and Bell 407 do not have this restriction, please contact us if someone in your party is over 300lbs so we can schedule one of the Bell Helicopters.

Safety is our top priority, everyone is privately weighed to ensure exact figures. Due to high density altitudes (hot days) or adverse wind conditions we may split up parties for safety.
