Job Description
The Orange County Fire Authority, Air Operations Division is currently accepting applications for the positions of Fire Helicopter Technician. This recruitment will be used to create an eligibility list for future vacancies.

Incumbents are responsible for performing journey level helicopter mechanic duties, which includes maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and testing fire helicopters and ground support equipment. Other collateral duties include, parts ordering, aircraft inspection kits build-up and updates, maintaining consumable levels, shop cleanliness and organization as well as completing FAA logbook sign offs for aircraft return to service.
Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed below.

EDUCATION (position requirements at entry):
High School Diploma, or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

EXPERIENCE (position requirements at entry):
Two (2) years of directly related maintenance, repair, and inspection of Bell helicopters or medium type aircraft models

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS (position requirements at entry):
• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License at time of appointment. Possession of a valid California Commercial Class B Driver License, with air brake, hazardous materials, and tanker endorsements, is required within six (6) months of appointment.

This classification is subject to enrollment in the California DMV Pull Notice Program, which periodically provides Risk Management with the incumbent's Driver License record and status.

Additionally, when the incumbent possess a valid, unrestricted California Commercial Class B Driver License, the incumbent is subject to the provisions of the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, which includes DOT pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing while employed in this classification.

• Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certification.

SALARY

  • $31.21 - $42.08 Hourly
  • $5,409.73 - $7,293.87 Monthly
  • $64,916.80 - $87,526.40 Annually
